Are the formal barriers that once separated areas of cultural production now replaced by a climate of cultural mobility? At its worst, this new spirit valorizes any old amateur rubbish as meaningful. At its best, it's a movement that started a cultural dis-establishment of the professional class system. If knowledge was previously deemed specific to an immediate specific context, what might happen if we allowed our expertise to go wandering into unknown, yet potentially related, territories? Newbetter is a product of these unconscious, cultural forces, and an attempt to turn questioning into a means of thinking and doing.
