Newbetter came together in 2000. Collectively, its four members [Shumon Basar, Joshua Bolchover, Tom Coombs and Parag Sharma] have had experiences working at the offices of Chora, Diller+Scofidio, glas, Zaha Hadid, Opodo and Xerox. Some have built houses, schools, restaurants and shops; others have edited books (Blur) and magazines (Tank, sexymachinery); curated art/architecture exhibitions, designed interactive products, lectured internationally and have written for a number of prominent journals and magazines. They are actively affiliated with Cambridge University, London Metropolitan University, The Architectural Association and the Royal College of Art, believing that there is no chasm between theory and practice. Newbetter is based in London, though its protagonists herald from the melancholic north of England and hedonistic Miami, USA.
