Can Buildings Curate is the first exhibition to explore the role of the modern gallery in the love/hate relationship between artists, architects and curators. Newbetter is curating the group show (which comprises an international list including OMA, Zaha Hadid, Michael Asher, Dee Ferris, Cai Guo Qiang, Igor Zabel and others) and is also designing the exhibition. Inspired by the ‘ideological exhibitions’ from early c20th, Can Buildings Curate will create a series of intimate, thematized gallery experiences. Starting off at the Architectural Association, London, in April/May 2005 with a performance and panel--discussions, Can Buildings Curate will tour the UK in 2005 and then travel internationally. A book accompanying the exhibition will be published in Spring 2006.
